Thursday, 7:30pm: “Have You Heard from Johannesburg?” presented by the Columbia Palestine Forum

The Columbia Palestine Forum invites you to two events this week:

Tuesday, 3/31, 8pm, Hamilton Hall 603: Organizing Meeting
Come to our weekly organizing meeting to discuss where we stand after Monday’s meeting with the administration, and to help plan further actions and events to end Columbia’s complicity in the occupation of Palestine.

Thursday, 4/2, 7:30pm, Fayerweather 313: “Have You Heard from Johannesburg?”
Attend a screening of Have You Heard from Johannesburg and learn about the history of the anti-apartheid movement at Columbia. During the 1980s, Columbia University was the site of large anti-apartheid protests, and was one of the first universities in the US to divest from apartheid South Africa. Have You Heard from Johannesburg, directed by Connie Field, includes plentiful footage of the campaign at Columbia as well as a powerful telling of international protest and civil disobedience that led to national legislation that reversed US policy towards apartheid South Africa. The film will be followed by a discussion about the lessons for our struggle against Israeli apartheid today.
