Come hear activists from the Black Panthers to Project South speak on the growing parallels between the Arab and African-American experiences, with a focus on how our groups can collaborate on community activism, both globally and locally, the struggles we face in common, and the overall strategic and moral value of solidarity. Hear activists speak on the growing parallels between the Arab and African-American experiences, with a focus on how our groups can collaborate on community activism, both globally and locally, the struggles we face in common, and the overall strategic and moral value of solidarity. We will attempt to develop a clear strategy for better uniting these two groups throughout the U.S. and globally. Potential points of contention within the coalition, tensions between immigrant communities and local communities and brown-on-black racism in particular, will be addressed. Come with creative energy to formulate strategies for coalition-building with these seasoned activists:

DHORUBA BIN WAHAD, co-founder of the Black Liberation Army and author of Still Black, Still Strong.

JAMAL JOSEPH, former Black Panther and Founder of the acclaimed Impact Repertory Youth Theater of Harlem.

EMERY WRIGHT of Project South, the Institute for the Elimination of Poverty and Genocide.

AISHA AL-ADAWIYA, Founder of Women in Islam, Inc. an organization of professional and social activist Muslim women.

BRANDON KING, Malcolm X Grassroots Movement representative on the July 2009 Viva Palestinina Convoy.

Co-sponsored by: Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, ASA-SIPA, Muslim Students Association, Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine, Al-Awda NY, International Socialist Organization
